Every few years machine translation seems all the rage. Today, there’s more reason than ever to feel good about automated translation — the technology itself, the volume of information that needs to be translated, and consumer acceptance. But none of the MT developers make much money. They haven’t figure out that today’s MT model is about driving eyeballs to websites rather than selling licenses.

We have made the obligatory “what will happen next year?” predictions for each of the last three years. How good is our crystal ball? In this posting we review our predictions from last year.

TranslatorsTraining.com compared 13 translation environment tools (or TEnTs as they prefer) in table format and in video. The site’s owner asked each one of tool providers the question: “Using your tool, what’s the best way to translate this Word document?” The result was a step-by-step process captured in video for each of the tools.
