Proz.com, the most popular translation portal on the web, has begun offering vendor management services for LSPs and direct clients.

At its annual meeting in Montréal on 16 October, the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) pressed for realistic, usable language standards. GALA announced that it would continue the standards work it started in LSGB.

India’s National Knowledge Commission thinks that the translation Industry in India "has huge potential and has the capacity to create more than 500,000 jobs in the country."

Bloomberg reported that "Veritas Capital, the second-largest private equity firm targeting U.S. defense contracts, is seeking $4.6 billion in Army translation business in Iraq, giving L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. its first competition for the work."
